    Fireworks

I found a solution to the neigbour who just doesnt know when enough is enough, easy for everyone to identify the culprit.

The neighbour just goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on, so i go over, ring his door bell and ask him nicley to please stop letting off fireworks because after 5 hours of continuous bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang my animals where beside themselves, and i had enough. He tells me to piss off and mind my own bussiness, it is his right, yip i see red, so let the fireworks begin.

So here are some ideas for people wanting to identify these people who just dont know when to stop, you could look into getting yourself some orange smoke grenades, they leave a nice cover of fine orange dust over everything, it doesnt damge anything, it just means the person has to wash down the walls, motor vehicles and anything else which is out in the open. The best part is everyone driving past in the morning can see who the culpit was and the police can identify the property, if someone reports them, i hear it is illegal to use safety flares and smoke grenades but I heard fireworks are also illegal

Oh by the way, happy new year i hope you all had a better evening than i did, all i can say is thank goodness all that is out the way i can try focus of some positive things to do in 2013, not looking for to guy fawkes, same kak, maybe i should have all my animals put down and fit sensors and barb wire around my yard so it looks like amaximum security prison, then i can also enjoy the sestive seasons and blow up R50 notes.

Ians, here's wishing you a happy and peaceful 2013! Boy do you sound pissed off. I'm not surprised. My wife and I were out last night and even though we 'sedated' our two dogs (Alaskan Malemute and a Labrador), the Malemute went ape with the noise and proceeded to scratch our solid wooden back door to the point of near destruction. Fortunately my son came back early and he prevented the dogs from injuring themselves further. I can't for the life of me understand what motivates people to set off firecrackers. And to top it all, why must they sound like sticks of dynamite? With regard to the smoke grenades: I'm not too familiar with them and it sounds like an excellent idea, but when the person sees them 'going off' cant he/she simply hose them down and they will be extinguished before they can make the intended mess? And where do you buy these things? Just a pity that you can't have your neighbors put down......

When we were young we used to make bombs using various household chemicals. They could all be used to redecorate the neighbours front yard. I am sure that the neighbour would be thrilled to walk out in the morning and see his entire yard blown to bits. It will take him a year to clean the acid out of the soil. When we lived in the townhouse in JHB there was also a dumba$$ in the complex who would carry on and on and on. I would have loved to have him put down.

Just to set the record straight i dont have a problem with fireworks, if used in a controlled enviroment and using last night as an example, between 11.45 and 12.30. You can prepare the animals and drug them, but when it starts in the afternoon and carries on until early hours of the morning, then started again this morning, you need to draw the line somewhere.

I love to see a pyrotechnical display done by professional people in a controlled environment. It can be very spectacular and is much better than the shirty big bangs let off in the neighbourhoods. What I hate is people with a #@ck you attitude who does not care for neighbours or the well being of animals. I get even more annoyed when they start playing the race card and ramble on about culture and rights and bull$#!t.

I do not care whether it is Guy Fawkes, Christmas, New Year or Diwali. Why do you have to shoot off big bangs a week before and a week after your festivities? Making a noise and causing animals (and sometimes people as well) to get hurt is not fun, it is down right criminal.

I challenge anyone in favour of fire crackers to visit the SPCA and other animal shelters the day after these "festive" days to see how animals have been traumatised. Or are you also against care for animals like our dear president?

Blurock, you spot on! It's not about disregarding another individuals New Year eve bash or celebration/commeration of one of many religions that do use fireworks; it's actually just to be firm about using fireworks on the eve of the special day, on the day itself and perhaps even the next day. In stark contrast to this reasoning, I have to contend with people who burst fireworks 24/7, two weeks before the official start of the religious day, 2 to 3 weeks after the official start of the religious day. They don't have regard for neighbours or animals. I could play a tit for tat, was tempted to do so for many years with my neighbours but emotional maturity got the better of me.
That sedative that the vet gives doesn't even help my dogs, when I give them that, they want to go fight with the fireworks. Characters! Instead of just sleeping, they don't sleep, even on the sedative. They then seem to enjoy barking at the fireworks! There's fireworks going off when they eating their food, drinking their water, relieving themselves. I normally let them spend the worst fireworks days and nights inside.
No offense to anyone, you wouln't like it if in the name of my special day, I play music ear drum burst loud 24/7 two weeks before the start of my special day and 2 weeks after the start of my special day..

I found a solution to people who do this, a gentle spray from a gas canister normally has an amazing affect on these people, you mess with my space i spray your space, my ears hurt their eyes hurt. I suppose it is a little unfair, becuase it should be an eye for an eye or an ear for an ear.

Yes, if you give your worsie viagra it will never be able to climb the stairs

I agree with Ians, go upwind of the offending party and release a few cans of mace to float down into their property.

Funny how the LAW protects these people? It just pisses me off… But a funny thing happened every-time they shot something off a mysterious flying object crashed through one of their windows.

The person shooting the fireworks walked up and down the street and was very upset accusing people left and right that they were responsible.

Now it is complete mystery as I am too far away to actually see anything as it was night and pitch black but apparently someone somewhere did something… I wouldn’t know who this person is or what he/she/they did but I am sure glad the fireworks stopped.

We had a pet who suffered heart palpitations when he heard fireworks, in 2010 his heart stopped three times during the Diwali week, I became quite good at getting a heart started on a dog. Since then the "Noisy Neighbours" have moved and the dog had to be put down in 2011 (unrelated cancer).

Point is, I know how this dog suffered, and I don't condone ANY form of noise, after all, I bought my home so that I can have a quiet place to unwind after a day at the office, unfortunately most of my neighbours seem to have bought their property for parties and firework forums. I have always been of the opinion, if you have to have a party, hire a hall, if you want fireworks, F-off to China!

I'm not talking about a casual braai, where the booze gets you a bit loud, it's about those parties that have 30+ guests and go until 6 A.M. without any consideration to other neighbours. Fireworks, however, do not belong, anywhere, anytime, anyhow, using them is the same as declaring all-out WAR!, and some of the bangs sound like cannon fire too.

Sorry for my ranting, I've watched way too many animals suffer...

I had a problem but tanks to mysterious events no one in our steed parties anymore. As in no one. And if they do then it only last till 10:00pm. I can live with that.
