Needless to say the deposit requirements have been doubled for this client's next contract.
Not that I think that'll bother them much - but it does reduce the prospects of unexpectedly finding myself up against the ropes again because paying on time (or even within 10 days after being put on notice) was just too much trouble.
I don't blame you, especially in the current climate. Companies that cause me headaches or bank charges bacause they late pay not only suffer in their deposit requirements for new projects or jobs, they also find themselves on a different pricing structure entirely.
All that stuffing around, and then they overpay me by nearly R20k

I enquired what the issue was and they said it was an unspecified glitch with online banking system when the payment was made. Luckily I hadn't made the refund back to them, if I had it would have compounded the problem.
