I think that our local population now have an alternative to vote for.
Remember she was part of the struggle, and the people at grass roots level can sympathies with her, and is now disgusted at how her comrades in arms are misbehaving in the canals of power.
I have listened to some of her speeches on the radio, and was always impressed at the no hold punch approach when the situation required.

Has she formed a new political party or not? This is still unclear? Is this just a platform to hear complaints and then consider foi new political party or is Agang a new political party entering 2014 elections?
At last we have some Black people who have the guts to stand up against this corrupt and hopelessly inept government. When white people speak out against corruption, they are racists. When black people speak out against corruption, they are impimpi and traitors. (even the children who appeared in the FNB ads)
If enough people see the wrong and speak up and start doing something to stop these thieves, there is hope. Lots of hope! Lets do it for South Africa and our children's heritage.

I was pretty impressed by Dr. Ramphele on Morning Live this morning, at least when it comes to articulating the issues. I do get a sense she's still trying to figure out the best course forward, though. This is very much a first step.
As Vanash says - we'll have to see how this pans out.
I have my doubts!
If she was serious why not join the DA? I think she is probably working for ANC who fears that DA and COPE are becoming more and more powerful. Agang will simply split the opposition vote and leave ANC with a majority. I know her speech was good but in all my years I never believe a thing a politian says, most are good on talk short on delivery.

Unfortunately the DA has an impressed baggage of the old RSA to the local population, and is therefor seen as still a white group.
Dr Ramphele is a freedom fighter, and was directly involved in the struggle in the 70s, so she has the credentials to stand on the soap box and be able to make the calls for the reason of the struggle in the first place. The voting electorate can align with her due to this. Fortunately her story is not of self enrichment, and with the current failure of basic necessities, will definitely get an ear from the electorate.
To me it feels like a new wind is blowing, maybe she is the catalyst to make the change.
The ANC is already getting nervous, and their only weapon is to shout out that she is a traitor, as they have no dialogue to argue with the truth!.

Wait until the ANC starts losing votes. Then it will not be a new wind blowing, but bullets flying!
Mugabe was a fairly reasonable man until he was challenged. That is when the s#it started.
Party name seems to have totally no meaning or connection with politics; unless it means something in the Black languages... I personally think the DA doesn't do enough to garner support amongst the South African youth (all races). They should develop some outreach plans & not only advertise when there's an election around the corner.
