Now that we are growing faster than expected, so the registration process has become a populer topic. We are no longer sticking to our reguler customers, so the registration process will become part of the package to CYA.

A few things to consider as we live and learn

Nobody has a clue what the peanlty will be yet, which makes it rather interesting, if the fine is going to be R5000 for example big deal, if you have had your sytem for 5 years already, R5k is a splash in the ocean, concidering all the savings.

What sort of costs are involved in registering a system:

1/ The application fee, which by the way is not just the cost of the meter, the longer you delay your registration the harder it will become to register.

2/ The cost for the engineer from the desgn process to the hand over of the commisioned system.

3/ The monthly fee charged by the council.

The big question os Ethekwini for example, ready for SSEG applications?

When will Ethekwini be ready for SSEG applications?

    Note on page 8:

The Municipality will facilitate an application process to interconnect SSEG systems. We have designed an application process to collect and evaluate relevant information pertaining to the connection ofSSEG systems to the grid. All SSEG systems must gain approval from the Municipality in advance of installation, andadhere to relevant technical guidelines to ensure systems are safely wired and connected.Separate SSEG tariffshave been developed for residential, business and industrial SSEG customers. Tariffs are not yet active and currentlyundergoing the approval process.

      Step 3
The purpose of this form is to formally request for the connection of your SSEG system to the grid, bi-directional metering and a tariff change to the embedded generation tariff structure (Scale 15).Three requests are captured via this application. The capturing of this form onto our system will generate a unique reference number, i.e. an “E” number. This will be used to track your application throughout the process. Upon capturing your form, this reference number will be forwarded to you.

I am starting to think it might not be a bad idea to get my customers SSEG registered sooner than later.

The application fee is made up of the repalcement meter cost and all the other costs to ensure your grid can handle the load.

If you get in early, you shouldnt be hammered with any upgrade costs if your grid cant handle the additional power feeding back into the grid
