Have you registered your dogs and cats yet?

The new Cape Town pet bylaws are in force and you have a limited time in which to register all your dogs and cats. Failure to do so will carry a R300.00 fine for each offence.

More interestingly there's a few things I didn't realise about the registration. Firstly there's limits on how many animals you can have according to your property size...but if you're over the official allowance and you register all your animals then you're allowed to have the excess.

Secondly if you don't register your animals now you won't be on the roll as a pet owner so in the future, as a previously unregistered owner, if you want to register dogs you'll need to get signed permission from your neighbours. There's some more info here and here's the bylaw attached for your enjoyment.
