I thought I'd share this: http://www.infoworld.com/print/242138
I can personally vouch for nearly all the points made on that page.
- RAID simply means corrupt data is spread over all your backups immediately.
- AV's never catch everything and constantly tell you that the program you use every day is a virus.
- AV's ALWAYS slow down the PC to the point where they're worse than a virus.
- Firewalls only stop stupid stuff, the dangerous things are already let through.
I've found that a smart user is always several aeons ahead of the most "secure" / "expensive" / "robust" / "redundant" / whatever other snake oil you can mention product. And those products rarely (if at all) help against stupid users.
