You had me looking at what Flir might be up to.

At 995 Euros for a Flir i3 nowadays we're not that far away from being able to have an infrared camera in every sparky's toolbox. Obviously it's not the same product as the higher spec'd models and I wouldn't suggest using it for predictive maintenance inspections or serious in-depth analysis. But when it comes to finding hot joints, overloaded wiring etc. on the fly in domestic installations - it's viable.
