MTN executives have just another two years to go before they can rejoice in a multi-billion payout in terms of the scheme whereby MTM employees bought Transnet’s 18% stake in the mobile operator in 2003.
Those of you who are excited by large numbers may care to know that according to MTM’s annual report, MTM shares worth R1 500 000 000 (yes R1,5 billion) will accrue to CEO Phutuma Nhleko. Fellow directors Irene Charnley, Rob Nisbet and Sifiso Dabengwa each get just over R1 000 000 000, and Santie Botha (because she arrived late on the scene) gets around R220 000 000.
