Apologies for the interruption to service.

We had a server wobble this morning. Apparently a module add-on/ upgrade that did not like php.

Anyway, we're back up and running. My apologies for any inconvenience caused.

    I'm sorry.

I and apparently a couple of others had some patchy service on the site this morning. I've received this report from hosting:
Downtime duration: Intermittent connection from 2:12 am to 9:41 am.

Cause: Router software bug. The router started giving issues at about 2 am. From that time the cause of the issues was investigated further. It was found that they needed to reload the software on the faulty router, which was done. During the above period the connection went down a couple of times for short periods, but was fully restored at about 9:41 am.

Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused!

Hi, sorry about that. It seems that the faulty router which has had the software upgraded is still giving a bit of issues. The NOC are in the process of replacing this faulty router and moving people off from it for the time being.

The issues as you may have noticed aren't constant, but downtime comes in short burst from upgrading and restarting the router. After a few attempts at fixing the software, they found that the router may be faulty and will replace it. I thought they had resolved the issue, but it seems that the router started acting up again a bit later. Unfortunately I don't have an exact time frame on when the problem will have been solved completely. I'll try my best to keep you updated!

Again, I'm very sorry for the downtime and am very sorry for any inconvenience caused!

Very quick update: According to the NOC the faulty device has been replaced and there should be no more problems. So that last fairly long downtime should be the last of it.

VERY VERY sorry for any inconvenience caused!!

There's nothing quite like waking up in the morning and finding the site down. 351 page requests got a database error.

I starting to think it's time to read the fine print on the 99.9% uptime guarantee.
