Registering as a Debt Counselor?

Hi there,

I work for one of SA's big life assurers and am investigating debt counseling, as a significant % of our existing customer base is suffering with over-indebtedness. I am doing the debt counseling course in two weeks time but was informed I would probably not be able to register as a debt counselor due to my employment status. I was also informed that employees of Sanlam who had passed the course had been denied registration by the NCR.

I checked the NCR website and my company is not a credit provider, credit bureau or debt collection agency. Therefore surely I should be able to register? Unfortunately I can't get hold of anyone at the NCR to give me a definitive answer.

Any ideas anyone?
