A Durban woman is facing charges of conspiring to commit murder after allegedly hiring a hitman to murder a MetroRail work rival who was competing for the same job.
Although she is now in hiding, the intended victim has a lot to be grateful for after police foiled a plot to shoot her as she left her home to go to work.
The plot was uncovered by the SAPS Organised Crime unit.
It is believed that the woman from Hillary was a candidate for a job at the Durban MetroRail offices together with an employee who is currently working in the company.
Jealous that the intended victim stood a better chance of getting the job, the suspect then allegedly hired a hitman from KwaMashu to kill her.
Before the attempted murder, the hitman had been paid by the suspect and he was due to get the rest of the money once he had completed his task.
