I'm reading the story about Tiger Brands and their price fixing/cartel tactics for which they are being taken to task.
And I couldn't help but think that preferential procurement is not that far away from causing similar harm. We just need to look at what it has done to Eskom's coal procurement prices.
Maybe what Tiger Brands needs is a few connected fat cats on the Board, then they wont need to go the cartel route. They'll be able to get any contract they want at their higher price quite legally through preferential procurement.
