Pop up socket outlets.

Is a pop up plug classified as a socket outlet or an extension lead ? They are sold with a plugtop attached.
Will it be acceptable to remove the plugtop and connect it directly to a plug circuit ?

We plug them in to play safe - Also easier when it breaks that Mrs Joe soap can replace it without interfering with the installation

I would think so - Have never asked for SABS certification certificates so not 100% sure
