I have a baby 1,2Kw inverter connected for my wifi and computer.
It's a Mecer.
There are 4 x 100 Watt panels to charge 2 x 100A/h batteries through an mppt unit.
How do I disable the inverter charger.
I only want the pv to charge the batteries ?

Does it have a screen where you can input all the parameters? If so you can try make charging amps set to 0A or they may be a diabale function.
If not then you could perhaps unplug the AC input cable there by only using the PV panels to charge and run the system, then it can be plugged in if needed on cloudy days etc

No settings on inverter.
I want to use municipal power when available, but only pv to charge the batteries.
I was thinking of maybe a diode in the positive lead or something like that preventing a charge from the inverter. Will have to experiment.
I was looking at the manual and looks like you will have to open up the inverter box to disconnect the AC supply battery charger from the AC bypass circuit.

Gonna play some games and do just that. Install a charger on/off switch somewhere to turn it on if required.
Even although I'm only using the inverter for backup during loadshedding, why use munic power to charge the batteries when there are panels on the roof ? That's my thinking.
It makes sense. You invest in those PV and then better to use only those ones to charge.
