    24v DC drivers popping

    Hello

I keep having 24V DC drivers popping that running strip lights.

I didn't install it but trying to see what the wattag usage is but the drivers are 24VDC 5Amps. The lights work for maybe a month or 2 then the drivers blow, could this be because they being driven too hard and trying to supply more what it can even though the lights work or is there maybe something else ?

With out further information difficult to make and comments.
    Is there a dimmer involved?
What is the current on the secondary when the lights are on?

I would suspect that the drives are not getting sufficient airflow across the electronics to keep the components working at a reliable temperature.
Alternatively there are too many LEDs being powered by the PSU and being over driven causing failure.
Alternatively surges are taking the electronics out, but if they are a SMPS with transformer then they should be rugged.

    Hello : )

Thank you, I got the specs of the LED tape used and its 24V 4.8watts which I assume is per meter. So I did quick calcs and the driver used originally and I did a like for like replacement is way under powered. The lights worked but may have been using that driver to its max.

There is no dimmers or anything.

I will also test the cables with IR of the 230V supply but I suspect it's undersized power supply
