DB Wiring according To Sans 10142-1/2020 edition 3

I need some assistance here , if anyone can Help I would be glad

Way back when I started as an electrical Inspector , there was no issue with what type of wire to be used in wiring a DB

The standard was to Use approved PVC conductor with the correct amperage and size

Nowadays , ther seem to be a lot of new ways that I am not familiar with

The one client Db is wired with Rubber insulated Marine Trailing Cable of international colour coding

Of Course SANS Stipulate that the Standard Colour is Red Whit Blue and Black and Green/Yellow for earthing

It further stipulate that it can be colour coded with double wound insulation Tape or appropriate sleeving, But I cannot find any place in The Current edition of Sans stipulating it has to be Approved PVC Cable . Was it removed from Sans ? Can any type of cable be used nowadays ?

Am I Just being too Grumpy ?

If anyone can assist or shed some light I would appreciate it

I found out the Cable used is HO7 , and that the spec sheet is not compliant with SANS 1012-1

H07 is trialing cable to what I know, how come that is not compliant for DB installation ? Interested to find out why as I see that cable used for generator tie in etc

What is compliant with SANS ? Back in the 80's SABS was the standard, then SANS was the new standard, in 2023 anything with a lablel indicating it was tested in a lab of sorts will do.

Old school red stamp electricians who still think conduit and wiring is the standard, only have a few years left in the industry, then the new era of wire pullers wil ltake over. I am sure the old SANS standard will phase out with them as they leave the industry.
