    Generator 2x socket outputs

    Hello : )

    So client wants Genny installed.

    It has 2x socket outlets.
    7KVA Genny, Grip brand.

Now I assume the socket outlet is rated at 16Amps.

So can I combine each socket line and neutral to one so that we don't overload the one socket outlet?

So basically 2x plug tops from the Genny output and then join the line and neutral to a 4mm˛ cable to the changeover.

Any advice would be appreciated. : )

Is there not a CB that feeds the 2 sockets
I would open up behind the sockets and find the main wires coming from the alternator and maybe fit a 32 Amp welding socket

I have seen people join the 2 x 16amp plug top circuits together to a 4sqmm wire into the house and it gives me the creeps - If 1 plug top is left out then the pins are live

I use a 4mmx 3 core trailing cable, connected directly into the box on ther generator with a compression gland and a 32 amp 3 pin female connector long enough to reach the 3 pin plug top mounted on the wall.

I normally install an IP 65 DB under the meter, where I connect the earth spike and fit the changeover switch and circuit breakers etc rteuired to make the installtion as reasonabley safe as possible. Will send you some pics.

Thanks all! Didn't even think of what would happen if one was left out of the double socket, will try wire direct from the back to a 32Amp. Safer for sure

The person who came up[ with this idea must be the same person who shared the idea of installing DC control boxes with 2 serprate double pole DC isolators connected to the same MPPT and not using MC4 connecotrs on the so called home made "combiner box" Some might say but there are MC4 connectors at the panels, just smile.

What you may need to do is to disconnect the Genny output Earth, and then link the cable to the installation neutral and earth (create a TNCS) and then also drop an Earth spike or 10 depending on readings.
