    Opinion on UNI-T tester UT595

    Hi

Anyone use the UNI-T testers? Have had a fluke 1653b for the last 14 years but its finally died. Was going to get another from the UK but looked at the UNI-T using for just over R11000 with vat.

    Any good?

Not expecting Fluke or Megger but its not fluke of Megger price.

I wanted one as well the Uni T as easier than getting from the UK.

Only thing I really want is the anti trip loop testing.

It seems the uni t has that feature but how well it works I don't know.

I have decided to wait and use what i have and then probably get a Kewtec or Megger etc.

Have not used that particular Uni T but have a couple of Uni T meters and they are impressive.

I was a Fluke only person but found the costs were getting out of hand and the quality dropping - Had to have a fluke repaired which was going to cost 2K and bought the first Uni T tong tester for 2K as a replacement - Been buying every since

You buy fluke you buy once, I have tried so many testers and always end up back with fluke. I bought 2 Uni T testers for a customer, no thanks I will stick with fluke. All the fluke tester sI have owned have all been passed down in working order. I look after my stuff, the test equipment is cleaned and packed away.

The only problem I have with fluke is the thermal camera, my screen is going white around the outside. The lat time I spent money on testers was in 2006 when I bought the TI20 and the fluke 435.

I sold my fluke 289 because I needed an extra R10k to buy my MTB (they are as expensive as fluke testers).

The fluke test leads dont last long but like apple earphones, they just work better than all the other plastic crap.
Comments are my opinion, unless regulations are attached to support the comment. This is social media, not a court room.

I have a couple of the Uni-T clamp meters for at least 4 or 5 years, they've been fine and they've stayed accurate. If I was buying an MFT I'd be investigating how easy it's gonna be to get it calibrated in SA and whether there's service and repair available.

@Dylboy The non-trip loop testing is a bit hit and miss at best. If the circuit has a lot of standing leakage the tester can sometimes trip it anyway. Also with more and more A-type earth leakages being used it also causes problems with non-trip impedance tests.
