    Pv panels and fires.

    From this mornings Daily Dispatch

" Part of the Eco Tanks factory and storage warehouse in Wilsonia went up in flames early Thursday morning.

It is suspected the fire, which broke out shortly after a bout of loadshedding, started on the roof between solar panels before spreading rapidly into the warehouse."

What causes solar panels to catch fire ?

Just thinking about fires and pv panels.

    Scenario.

    House catches fire.
    Nobody home
    Neighbour phones fire brigade.
Municipality switches off power in street.
Fire brigade arrives, does their thing.
A fireman goes inside and shoks on dangling wires because there's an inverter still happily doing it's thing.

    Who takes the responsibility ?

    Just thinking.

By the way I wish you luck watching the fire department trying to contact the municpality.

We called the fire department, they arrived within minutes with 2 fire engines and 8 firemen, all jumped into action then realised it was an elctrical meter box on fire, oooops.

That where the fun began, watching the chief trying to get through to the elctricity department using the fault number.

After an hour, they still couldnt get anyone out to isolate the line, I took an earth spike and hit hit into the supply cable, which caused the fuse on the pole to blow.

That must have been the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard, the fire department doesnt have a direct link to the electrcity department, and we think we got problems in the electrical industry
