    Taps in shower shock

Hi I am new here and have a problem with my shower. It recently started shocking when you touch the taps. It is not constant. I have used a extension cord and tested from the tap to the earth on the extension cord and get voltages from 5v to 150volt. Even when I turn off the power to the house at the db board. What could be the problem?

Chances are you either have a faulty geyser element or bad earthing and bonding.

High neutral impedance on the incoming supply 90% of the time.

Chat to your immediate neighbours and see if they are experiencing the same. If so, you can stop looking for the fault on your installation and call out the supply authority ( Council or Eskom, whichever is applicable.)

The neutral might have dissappeared between your house and the substation somewhere.
