Been following all the inverter threads, but don't see anyone discussing micro inverters.
Why is this ?
Are any micro inverter systems being installed in SA ?
If panels with micro inverters are used, how is this hooked up to the db downstairs ?

Micro inverters are used but do increase the price a substantial amount - With that said it is safer and the yield is generally better.
There is normally a controller that the output of the micro inverter is hooked up to .
The output of the micro inverter is +/-230v and is feed str into the DB through a CB in the same fashion that you would hook a normal gridtie inverter to a DB .
The individual micro inverters are daisy chained
Thanks for that GCE. I'm gonna make a point of familiarising myself with micro inverter systems.
Have a great day, brother.
Solar edge have micro inverters.
I have been following a company in the UK which uses Solar edge and micro inverters a lot.
Down under they also use a lot of solar edge, I have been doing a lot of research and installing axpert and Susnsynk products, but starting to hear more and more bad feed back about sunsynk. Technical support, warranty claims and repair turnaround time seems to be quite a challenge.
Another issue is the Sunsynk battery prices, I installed a battery a week ago which was R16000.00 cheaper than the customer would normally pay for the same Sunsynk product. Its a good product but R16000.00 better, only time will tell ?
Here is an article from down under ... laid it out quite nicely for those, like me, that don't know what a micro inverter is
