Lugs specific to a type of cable

I am busy crimping all the battery cables for a project and I noticed the standard lugs purchased from the elctrical wholesaler dont seem to hold the the wire tight.

I have noticed over the years that some lugs have a thicker walls than others.

Back in the day when we soldered lugs onto the lugs didnt have the hole at the top like the new ones do and the lug was a lot thicker.

I have tried crimping these thin stranded silicon cables I am using for connecting the 48 VDC batteries to the inverter with both a hydraulic crimper and and hand quad crimper, and found that in both cases if you wiggle or twist the lug slightly it comes loose.

I am thinking it might be better to use my indent crimper to ensure a secure tight fix.

I crimped the battery terminal to the wire and it is tight and secure, I have tried twisting and pulling on the wire and it seems to be working. The battery terminal lugs is a much thicker walled lug.

After reading this article, it seems the best option or to use an indent crimper.

It seems the problem is not with the lugs selection. the cable just seems to be thinner than PVC insulation copper cable.

I did a bit of scratching to see if I could find some technical data about the type of cable, cable standard and rating etc.

The cable is a Jonsson SIAF silicon cable made by Kabeltec

A copper tinned cable which has a conductor class 5 rating.

I have searched the site for the current rating of the cables, but clearly I am doing something wrong because I can find all sorts of info about the cable but no current ratings for the cables.

    https://www.kabeltec.de/index.php/en...tml?cableid=98

The company seems to have all certification as required.
