However, if you get a lot of users a good page experience will help a bit, but it can go the other way too.
What will also help is if your brand becomes popular enough to start getting people to do branded searches this will definitely increase ranking.
However, it depends on what you are selling If you sell services or goods that people keep coming back to the website for that will also help as Google looks at return visitors.
As with all things SEO nothing is really concrete(will never be) and there are so many variables involved but at least we have had this experience with a few sites.
It does take quite a bit of time and I must also admit it does not happen this way for everybody especially sites that don't get a lot of paid traffic and sites that don't generate a brand rep due to products or goods that people tend to buy once.
