I use them every single day, and buy them by the box, why would they need SANS approval ?

A few things I have learnt using these pushin type connectors.

Make sure you use the right connector for the right application, for example dont use a helcon type connector to connect the light to the elctrical installation, rather use a wago 221 type connector.

Use solid strand wires as much as possible, they are easier to remove from the helicon connectors. It is way more difficult to remove a stranded wire than a solid core.

For multi strand flexible cable like cabtyre, fit a bootlace ferrule to connect the wire.

    Awesome !
How come not to use the helicon for the light connection ? I have used that with Wago 221 but curious why not the helicon one ?

And ya specific cables for it I agree.

I learnt the hard way, I finished off a project and had to replace a few of the lights. The cheaper option was to use helicons, it ended up costing more because I couldnt get the bootlace crimps out the helicon. What a waste of time and money.

Ahhhh ok I see hahaha. Yes ya they not easy at all. At the hard to reach ones I use Wago.

With that said I now almost only use the 221.

I really want that Wago connector box or like junction box as that just seems so cool !

Unfortunately wagos cost around R4 per unit more than the helicon, so we use them with caution

Sometimes AC/DC have the wagos on special for around R6 per unit, which stil la lot of money, but the time saving at my rate, is still worth using them.

Table 4.1 gives a list of commodities and standards. Connectors and terminals are required to comply with SANS 1433. That's the way I see it anyway.
