Creating heat for Geyser using condenser?

My son has sent me this. Apparently a friend of his has invented this unit whereby heat is created in the condenser and transferred into the geyser.
    My question is twofold.
Is this just a cheap heat exchanger and if so does it really produce hot water cheaper than the geyser can?
The following is a promotional video for the device.

It appears to be in line with a standard heat pump - Instead of running geyser water into the heat exchange which is part of the " heatpump" he has moved the heat exchange to the geyser

Problem with that method is that if the condenser packs up the owner has no hot water whereas the conventional way you have a change over switch and turn it across to standard geyser element till the unit is repaired.

A heat pump uses about a third of conventional element so the video appears correct

Not every installation, has a space next to the geyser to install the compressor as shown in the video.
This would require the compressor to be installed outside, which affects the efficiency of the compressor depending on the ambient temperature.
If it is cold outside, then the heat pump drops efficiency so no saving there.

I have used solar heat collector on cold water inlet side straight into geyser situated in ceiling with geyser blanket and all hot water pipes insulated running 2 years now saved plenty of $$$
