Hi all
I will need to replace the toner on my HP laser printer. Its out of warranty now and am considering getting a generic toner. It takes the HP 106A.
Any reason I should stick with the HP brand?
Can the toner cartridge be refilled?
Thanks

Hi Kevesh - we used to have an HP Laser Printer and always used original cartridges. Worked for years with no problem. We use our printer 6 days of the week.
Eventually we had to get a new printer due to Microsoft upgrades and we bought a Canon Laser printer. Used original cartridges for a couple of years until they started costing in the region of R1,500 per cartridge (now costing R1,800.00). We decided to experiment and bought a refilled cartridge at a R150.00 thinking that it was worth the try but were not expecting too much. We were SO impressed. The print was as good (if not better) than the original and lasted just as long.
Our second cheapie had a slight crack in the casing and so it started spilling toner into the machine. We noticed it quickly though and managed to clean it up. Since then we have continued to use the refills with no problems. The one we have in at present is not as dark as others we have had before but again, at that price, we are not unhappy. We always have a spare on hand in case there is a problem ... and at that price it is cheap enough to have a spare in your cupboard.

Thanks Mike, appreciate the feedback.
I am trying to find out locally if someone can refill or supply a refilled toner, however, they are all saying that they cannot be refilled, which seems like BS.
The generic ones they have which they claim is replicas of the originals....but they will give me R50 off if I hand in my empty. They asking upwards of R800 for generics in small Pietermaritzburg.
Please may I have details of where you are sourcing your refilled toner from.
Thanks
I've used these guys on my Samsung. Global Ink - 3rd of the price, and delivered with in 8 hours if they have stock and ordered early in the morning.
I did note a slight colour difference from the original but at over R1500 an original cartridge, who cares![]()

I found that HP Online has regular specials on ink and toner and I stock up when it is really cheap.
I've bought refills from Inky at a reduced price but it appears as if HP monitors foreign cartridges, so I'm getting notices in this regard.
They can however refill HP cartridges which makes it much more affordabkle.
