I just got a price of R865 for a coil 100 m of 2.5 mm twin+e (free delivery in JHB) apparently it is not copper ... then the guys offers a price of R1685 (100m) it is tinned copper but her cant offer SANS approval ... SANS approved twin+e is more expensive.
A simple question how do you know if the wire being installed on your property is SANS approved ?

It seems we have reached a point that we would require every item bought would require the document for the material installed to prove that is is sold for the application and that it has approval.
I dont think people understand the implications of signing off a job with non compliant materials ... they do ... they just don't care because we all know we play a numbers game and the odds are in your favour ... the chance that someone might actually go out and carry out an investigation is so small that it is worth taking a chance.
If you can get away with running house 1.5mm house wire connected to bare overhead power lines ... hanging across the road into the bush and supply an entire informal development ... what are the chances you would get caught installing speaker twin wire that looks just like twin+e ?
