Inverter on or off when no load shedding?

I have had a 5Kva Mecer Axpert MKSII inverter/charger installed with 4 x 200ah gel batteries in my home for load shedding.
I have a small 2 bed simplex and it was hard to find a place to put the unit so it wasnt in the lounge or bedrooms. So its in the passage.
Unfortunately this particular inverter runs the fans 24/7 which is rather annoying. Its not loud as such but still noticeable.
Im thinking of switching the inverter off when there is no load shedding. On research i see batteries discharge at approx 4% per week when not being coupled to the inverter.
I could switch the inverter on every 3rd or 4th day while im working so that the fans dont annoy me and the family.

What are the disadvantages to the inverter/batteries/whole system if i did this?

    Hi
Without knowing how the system is connected to your load and how much load - You should have a bypass switch to switch the load directly to mains .
If the load is not running through the inverter and you can keep the inverter on would be best .Without load the fan time should be minimal.
Electronics hates moisture and will attract the moisture when cooling down after every time you top up the batteries.Being Durban with high humidity could eventually create a problem.
