If youa e using a payent gateway and it redirects to a secure page like payfast or paypal it ok i guess. However most checkout pages require you to enter details before that, thats where the ino gets stolen I would never checkout from a non https site. Browsers are also starting to warn against it even if you arent selling, get ssl even if its a ev certificate it costs nothing, gooogle will rank you better for it ( least not penalize you ) and your user metrics will be better.
