Hello
Have any of you removed the DVD drive from your laptop and replaced it with a caddy HHD or SSD for better performance and storage.
I have an SSD that is getting wasted on a desktop pc at home and want to use it in my laptop. I have read that you can buy a caddy which is around R150 - R200 and the SSD will mount into that. Its a plug and play setup once you install it in place of the DVD drive.
My big issue is transferring the program files to the SSD drive. Seems complex to get done as its not a copy and paste situation.
Also my laptop originally came with windows 8 and there was a free upgrade to windows 10. How do I get hold of the windows 10 files to reinstall onto the SSD?
Similarly I will need the windows 7 files to reinstall windows to the desktop. The desktop pc was built up by an IT guy a few years back and I cannot locate any of the disks for windows 7.
Any advise appreciated.
Thanks
Kavesh
