    Sage Intelligence Reporting BIC

What do I need to be able to create my own BIC reports in Pastel?

Obviously you will need the BIC module - I assume that you have it?

If you have not had any experience in creating BIC reports, I strongly suggest that you attend one of Pastel's BIC training courses. There is a lot of technical stuff that you need to get to grips with.

On the other hand, I am happy to create any BIC reports that you require, if you will let me know what your requirements are.

Thanks Neville. I just want to know the in's and out's of BIC reporting myself. I have tried googling for BIC report courses available and spotted the "Excel on Steroids" course. Is this the one I need to look at?

Although "Excel on Steroids" is an excellent course, and I recommend that you attend it, unfortunately it will not equip you with the intricacies of the BIC module itself.

The BIC module involves a lot more than Excel skills, as it delves into the database structure of Pastel itself, and the SQL syntax, etc.

Yep, I am picking that up as I am going through the Report Manager. I see that I need a licence for the connector too, so obviously the BIC module add-on has not been activated. Anyhow, can you suggest a course? I have a good knowledge of SQL, ODBC, databases and of course Excel.

If you can open the Report Manager, then you already have the standard BIC module, which is sufficient for most users. The Connector is part of the advanced BIC module, which allows you to merge multiple Pastel databases and other external databases to compile consolidated reports. If you are interested in purchasing the advanced BIC module, let me know (by private message or email) what your base serial number is and I can send you a quote.

I suggest that you go to the Pastel website at www.pastel.co.za and see what training courses they offer.

    Neviile,

I had a problem with my Pastel and my BIC reports were not showing on the "Intelligence Reporting" drop down list. Well I went into Report Manager and imported the two BIC reports again. Only problem is that the one report which is supposed to show me unpaid invoices per customer, does not give me the entire list of customers. Do you perhaps know where I have gone wrong?
