"Why I never quite fell for South Africa"

The M&G has an interesting (and sad) insight column

I think what stood out for me the most was,

On occasion I lost my heart here, but more often I lost my peace of mind.
Sometimes I'm not sure how long I can go on loosing my peace of mind.

A brilliant piece. I'd bear in mind that he is, after all, a visitor it seems.

Whilst it does not make his observations any less valid, I think the fact that we consider ourselves South Africans give us a little more staying power when it comes to living life through these trials.

    Interesting times!
