Hi,
Looking for some advice. Is a company in the Steel Fabrication industry required by law to be a member of a bargaining council or some sort of union.
I dont want to go ahead if its unecessary.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Greg

Being in the Steel Fabrication industry, it seems likely you fall under the registered scope of the Metal and Engineering Industries Bargaining Council.
If you're a member of a party to MEIBC, any party collective agreements will be of force and effect on you to and you will need to register with the Bargaining Council.
If you're not a member of a party to MEIBC; I know there were issues and delays about the collective agreement(s) being extended to non-parties by the Minister of Labour - not absolutely sure of the current status...
Participation is voluntary.
