    Compensation Fund

    Hi,

I started a new business in January this year. My tax affairs are all in order, including registration as employer for purposes of PAYE and UIF. I've been filing the necessary returns through eFiling and paying over the tax to SARS every month.

However, I don't seem to be making any progress with the DOL and the Compensation Fund registration. I emailed the application for registration as an employer in December last year, with copies of all supporting documents and I have sent a few follow up emails. But thus far I have not heard a thing from them. Not even an acknowledgement of receipt.

Should I in the mean time be filing monthly returns? How do I do this.... what form do I use? Its starting to worry me a bit now.

Any general (or specific) advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    André Human

It's an annual return, ordinarily due by 31st March each year although the deadline has been a month or two later the last few years.

Which reminds me - does anyone know what the deadline for returns is for this year. I couldn't find anything on the DoL website.

Thanks Dave. So should I submit a return notwithstanding the fact that I have not managed to register as an employer? Do you just email the return? What form do I use?

    Thanks a lot..

I don't see how there's anything to be gained in that until you're registered.

My best suggestion if you want to push things along is seeing as you emailed the forms in, have the exact date and time you sent the email handy and call in to follow up.

Last year the deadline was extended to 31/05 and I queried this with Sage One Payroll and they say that it has been extended again this year to 31/05.

  8. Thanks given for this post:

I just saw a notice on the big wall display at the departure security checkpoint of King Shaka International. Return submission is opening in April and the deadline is the end of May this year.

Just amazing it's on airport advertising media, but not yet on the DoL website

Hi Andre, pulling up an old post....did you ever manage to register? I've been trying to avoid having to go into their offices and do it via email but no luck so far
