Solar Geyser COC

I have done my Certificate of Competence at Water Smith Cert 244499 Level 4 CETA Approved 5P5767

I must supply n Client with a COC for n Solar Geyser Installation.
The normal Electrical geyser was Faulty.
What is the process !!

This is a High Pressure Solar geyser with Back up Element..

The Problem with this Client he be leave that there is n Solar Geyser COC only on the Solar Inst...

The existing Normal geyser was Removed and Replaced with a Heat Tech 200L Solar Geyser..

I only know about the electrical side of things, if you've altered the electrical installation in any way you'd be required to issue an electrical CoC for the installation.

So, please clarify: If i installed a solar geyser manifold, with 12V circulation pump + 10W solar panel, that circulates water into an existing geyser, I don't need a COC at all?

If Solar got involved you will need COC. Solar is an alternative energy source and con not be switched off if the system overheats as a thermostat will do in a conventional system. This means a competent person must design and certify that the system comply.

You do realize that a solar geyser doesn't have electricity, right? Since it's just water, it relies on pressure release valves instead. The only electricity involved in this case is the 12V circulation pump, connected to it's own solar panel.

I don't have any more knowledge on the subject but I think your answer is yes, no, maybe... the issues similar to yours were discussed here and there was no definate consensus or answer I'm afraid, the arguments for and against both had merit. http://www.theforumsa.co.za/forums/s...ehole-Pump-COC
