    SANS10142-1 section 5.1.3.2 people,animals and property shall be protected against harmful earth fault currents by protective measures such as .. (e) the use of earth leakage protection for socket-outlet circuits.

    Its part of the safety principels so it is a requirement.

    The installation needs to comply for the coc to be issues. The only way ians is to show the customer ther regs and or make him understand that its a requirement.
