A cow was slaughtered on a sidewalk in an upmarket suburb in East London, Eastern Cape yesterday evening. Is that "Culture, Tradition or Cruelty"? You be the judge!

you don't spell out the manner etc of the process, so i can tell you what it is possibly not----it is not possibility cruelty
Jan u are from the apartheid era - I'm sure you remember plenty of those stories as well ..... Why don't you do a comparison between this cow and one of those "slaughters" .....
We are both from that "apartheid" era. Those "slaughters" were done at the kraal of the tribe and not in a busy street for all to see. I thought then and still do, that it was cruel to slaughter a cow in that manner. I have my own opinion about religion and tradition and not to offend anyone, I wont voice my comments on this forum, just yet.
It was never done on the streets ?? Really ??? ..... Ok perhaps you weren't aware of this !!!! Take my word - it was.
No, I was not aware of this, as the areas I lived in Peddie (Ciskei) & EL, these rituals took place at the various kraals AND my father in Law was the Chief Health Inspector over the Eastern Cape and he only once received a request for a ritual slaughter at a house and NOT in the suburb streets. I don't know if you have witnessed a slaughter in the streets?
Yep plenty on the streets and they weren't all cows. If u did not know about them then u need only listen to the truth commission. In fact de Kock is trying to get out of jail as we speak ...... Google his name and you might just realize what he did ...... On the streets. Do you not remember that if you were an activist in those days you "disappeared". So in my mind that was far worse than a cow in East London.
This is re animal cruelty - not politics....
