Wynn,I will have my J & B and Ginger Ale in the same way. Totally thirst quenching with a small teeny weeny kick .
If I am having a tot of whiskey for the taste, then I prefer it with a block of ice on it's own. Mind you not all whiskey tastes good this way - some burn the crap out your throat, others are more soothing as it glides down, others have an unpallitible after taste. I guess I prefer the smooth going down version, and provided there is no after taste, it would be classified as a fair whiskey in my book.

Back in the day when I used to drink, I certainly wasn't much of a whiskey drinker. The problem was the only whiskey I ever found I actually enjoyed the taste of was Royal Salute. Spectacular stuff, but unfortunately at an eye-watering price.

BTW - No, it wasn't the price that was the attraction. Trust me, if you ever get the chance to have a tot, I'm sure you'll agree, it's not much like any of the "mainstream" whiskeys out there.
