Importing General Ledger Journal into Pastel Xpress V 12

I have tried to import the attached file, and the error message I get is
Line 1: date must be in the format DD/MM/YYYY
    Line 1: Invalid date
Line 1: GDC field must be G, D or C.

From what I can see, the file complies with this.

Can anyone point out where have gone wrong please?

    import to gl.csv

Perhaps it is expecting a "," as the delimiter, as opposed to a";"?

    Thanks for your help Clive.
Perhaps it is because I am using Windows 8.

Your suggestion helps me correct line 1, then I get all the same errors for lines 2-53.
I have tried a number of things, even one a time, but I cannot get this to work.

Stevie, access the Windows 8 equivalent of control Panel, then Region and Language, then Additional Settings
On the Numbers tab, change the List Seperator to a comma, the recreate that import file.

    Hi Stevie,

Sorry about the delay in responding - I was too busy taking photographs over the weekend!

Clive is correct - your CSV file format is incorrect. I have attached a sample one-line GL journal for you to look at. A tip: if you want to make sure that you use the correct format, manually create a single line entry in Pastel and then export the batch to a file, with CSV as the file extension. Also, don't include any double-quotation marks in your CSV file, i.e. "

In Windows 8, over and above what Clive suggested, on the same Regional Settings screen, change the decimal symbol from a comma to a full stop and repeat the two edits in the Currency tab. Also make sure that your system is set to English South Africa.

    Hi Neville,

At first, let me thank you for the absolutely valuable help that you provide to our community!

I have set up the excel file as directed in the Sage Self help documentation, after inputting data, deleting the first line (Headings) and saving as a CSV. I try to import into Pastel, I keep on getting the same error:

"Line 1: Period must be 1 to 13 only"

Could you possibly help with this error?

P.S: Find attached Excel File and CSV file for reference.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Dylan,

I have checked the CSV file that you attached, and it seems fine. I also successfully imported it into a General Journal.

Not sure why you are having a problem. Have you tried importing the exact same file that you attached?

A shot in the dark here, but I've had a little experience with date fields mucking around for the strangest reasons -
Check the short date format in your Regional Settings is set to dd/MM/yyyy
(Assuming Windows 7 - Start > Control Panel > Region and Language )
