Hi Paul,
What exactly do you mean by "importing the cash books"? Do you want to import the opening balances or do you want to import the bank transactions from the bank website?

Hi Neville
I receive the bank transactions (exported to excel), I then "code" each transaction_ receipts to a Debtor account and payments to a Creditor and link this to a pastel account
(see extract below).
when I try to import this into pastel (I go to process casbooks then Batch), I get a list of errors.
1 7/3/2012 C 3200000 PayMar_007 #Monthly Account Fee 49.5 0 0 8400000 1 1 0 0 0 49.5

Hi Paul,
In the three sample rows that you have published here, I can see why you are having errors with the import. The first row should have a G instead of a C just after the date, as the account number (3200000) is a General Ledger account, not a Customer account. What errors are you getting?
By the way, Pastel does have a Bank Manager module, that will import the bank statements for you, with the added benefit that it can be trained to automatically code the transactions.

Hi Neville
Thank you very much!_ you will seriously laugh if I told you what G & C describes.
The other error I get is the date format with the lines identified - I don't understand because I make sure to use the same format throughout.
The Xpress package I bought came with a Bank Manager module for a trial period but I did not take advantage of that. Definitely a future option_ just can't afford it right now.
you have been more than helpful > thank you very much Neville
