SA legislation not nearly as funny as the US

I made a complete hash of this posts lol

I honestly didn't know where to post this one, Jokes, chat or maybe elsewhere. I decided that this could perhaps be a very good idea to post it here, maybe we will appreciate our country a bit more then

The SA legislation is not nearly as funny as the US. Now we all know that SA has had a number of very controversial laws that has been introduced recently. Well I think the US is one up on us.

JACKSON, Miss. - A state lawmaker wants to ban restaurants from serving food to obese customers — but please, don’t be offended.

He says he never even expected his plan to become law.

“I was trying to shed a little light on the number one problem in Mississippi,” said Republican Rep. John Read of Gautier, who acknowledges that at 5-foot-11 and 230 pounds, he’d probably have a tough time under his own bill.

So lawmakers are the same all over the world.
Only stress when you can change the outcome!

So why do they even make the proposal in the first place?
To draw media attention to themselves or just to "look" busy?

When I look at the local situation, I'm starting to think that most politicians are a waste of taxpayers' money. Many of them just seem to be making up the numbers when you get down to it. The party tells them what to think and what to do. Why are they even there?
