i get a call today from nedbank..."good day we would like to offer you a credit card" okay...so my first question whats the catch...and what sort of credit limit are you offering me..."no there is no catch you just have to fill in an application form answer a million questions we will done a credit check and make a decision from the information ......beeeeeeeeeeep.
My brother has this philosophy of NOT ending a call like that. You keep them on the line for at least 30 - 60 minutes... asking questions, probing, talking, etc etc. Only then do you end the conversation, by telling them you were never interested in the first place.
I don't have the time or patience to do that, but he feels if they wanna waste his time, he will waste their time as well.
I actually feel for these guys as they are just doing their job. Often they do not even work for the bank concerned and must be paid a commission based on the number of cards sold.
Can you imagine being told that you can take a 2nd card to pay off your existing credit card?!!! They just do not take no for an answer.
