Saw that type of thing frequently in Vietnam.

Even saw a full-sized water buffalo on the back of a bike on a bamboo frame.

When you reach the side of the road there, the bikes move in a unstopping mass- solid bunches. Stop streets and traffic lights mean nothing. They just keep moving, and "weave" in and out of wach other at intersections.

We were told, when we arrived, to cross a road: You just look at the far side, and start walking. Do not speed up, slow down, or change direction. Just walk. The bikes will miss you.

And they do. By inches in front, and behind. But they miss you. Which is why the constant pace is important.

On the first couple of days you SWEAR you are about to die - but you then get used to it.

There rule of the road is simple. If there is an accident, whoever is driving the LARGER vehicle is at fault. And it works - the bigger the vehicle, the more cautious the driver. We saw 1 accident in 2 weeks there - and it was single accident where driver fell off.

Bucket? What bucket? That's the side-car.
