Halo ring around the Sun - 1st Nov 2010

In SA only - Have a look at the sun, it is gorgeous.

Extract from google for those that are interested: The most common halo is the 22º halo, a ring of light around the sun or moon at a radius of 22º, about the distance from the end of the thumb to the little finger on the outstretched arm. These conditions are also often a precursor to oncoming precipitation within a few hours to a day.

This is apparently a well-known phenomenon. Even the ancient tribes have depicted it in rock art.

An apt reminder of how marvelous our universe is. And if it means rain in Jo'burg shortly, hooray!

Definitely new for me, never have I ever seen anything like it before. Even the rain afterwards was truly a blessing in JHB.
