Traffic fine help, anyone ?

Just received a R1250 fine this morning for not carrying my license with me.
The same it would have cost me for skipping a red light !

I later noticed that the Orifice never asked me to sign it. Does this mean I have not been served with a subpoena ? Can I contest that I never received it ?

Any help \ advice would be appreciated, ...
