    Roll on the World Cup

I just had to run my daughter down for a Unisa exam this morning. With all the road works around the World Cup on the go, traffic was a nightmare.

Obviously Durban is planning to finish all this lot just in time. Want everything shiny new before anyone gets a chance to trash it, I guess

Anyway, all I can say is roll on the World Cup. At least then things will get back to normal (whatever that might be).

Thats for sure. We realize roads must be done and it is inconvenient. What frustrates me/irritates me is that all this is being done for the tourists and not really for us the rate and tax payers. Of course they tell us it is for us and we will benefit etc, but we know the truth.

An interesting thought I had this morning, for Durban people, while dodging some of those road works -
What revenue will uShaka do during the world cup? I reckon we should check the numbers - if uShaka does not make it during the world cup then I reckon we can safely conclude it will never make it.

Gateway looked like a white elephant for a while and look at it now. I think uShaka's "problem" is it's taking the locals a while to realise what's on offer down there.

The roads that are being done are main roads leading to and from the new airport in Durban.
The rest of the roadworks seem to be related to laying pipe in the ground. considering how major scale it is, it's not just maintenance.
