Ever watched R10 million go down the drain?

A while ago there was a report that Robert McBride's legal costs defending his drunk driving charge had got to R10 million, and Ekhurleni ratepayers were picking up the bill.
Former Ekurhuleni Metro police chief, Robert McBride, was not sober hours after he crashed his car in December 2006, the doctor who treated him on the day told the Pretoria Regional Court on Wednesday.

"From the examination he was not sober," Inbanathan Sagathevan told the court.

In the new SA the right profession is a lawyer or politician. How the hell did they get so much power?

Fear... In 2007 I went to pick up my passport I was waiting in line when this man just walked in and jumped the line and walked in front of an elderly lady. She asked him what he thinks he was doing and he said to her “I am a lawyer do you have a problem with me” that was his exact words. No joke I remember the lady was terrified and even apologised to the man.

This was in full public view. I then remarked that what he did must be illegal somehow and the people behind me got really upset with this man. He left in a real hurry but the point was made clearly. Lawyers can do whatever they want and their unique knowledge of the law protected them and allowed them to intimidate members of the general public.

To this day I am not sure if his actions were illegal or not but lawyers do have a considerable amount of power over the general public.
