The chairperson of the Board of Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency, Mr P D Dexter has been, with immediate effect, granted leave of absence from performing all official duties attached to his position as the chairperson and member of the board with immediate effect.

The MEC for Economic Development and Planning, Mr CNM Padayachee took the decision to give Mr Dexter leave of absence in order to allow for an enquiry into allegations of impropriety made against Dexter.

"My decision to grant Mr Dexter leave of absence is motivated by the need to determine the veracity of allegations made against him" said MEC Padayachee.

Mr Dexter's leave has been granted in accordance to section five of the Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency Act of 2005.
