    Car problems.

This is a long shot, but here goes.

My car, 1999 2 litre Opel Astra Estate, died on me and I had to have it towed back home.

I,ve been busy now for 3 days trying to get it going.

    What I've done so far.

    a. New fuel pump.
    b. New fuel pump relay.
    c. New crank sensor.
    d. New knock sensor.
    e. New fuel filter.

If I spray quick start in the intake manifold, the motor runs. That tells me the coil, distributor, plugs and plug leads are all ok.

The fuel pressure in the fuel manifold is satisfactory.

For some reason, the injectors are not doing their thing.

I have had the injector manifold off to check for dirty injectors and they are spotless.

If anyone who knows these cars maybe has a tip for me, I'd really appreciate it.

Have no clue what could be the issue, but just a wild guess, Immobiliser?

Ok. What I have found out is that the immobiliser shuts off both the ignition AND fuel systems when operational.

The fact that the engine runs when I spray quickstart means that the ignition system is working. Now I need to find out why the fuel delivery system is not working. ( injectors not pulsing )

Ok, for those interestd, it is a petrol supply problem.

I checked the petrol flow at the back by the filter and it was fine, but somewhere between the filter and the fuel rail in the e gine bay, there's a restriction.

Tomorrow I will carry on, find the restriction and repair.

I can just thank my lucky stars that it's not the EMU as they are unobtainable for these cars.

The delivery pipe on the pump in the tank was loose, so the fuel pressure was not sufficient in the rail for the injectors to work.

Got that sorted and the motor is running
              BUT
there are now 2 leaking welsh plugs and the oil light is coming on intermittantly so I'll be busy in the garage still for a day or 2. Electrical work is taking a back seat for the time being.
