    Staircase "gap"

    Hi to you all

I am in a process of buying a house the top floor has 2 bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom so it's a flat by itself the ground floor 4 bedrooms etc.

It has a staircase which I want to take out as the top floor has its own entrance from the outside so I can put the inlaws there.

So here is the question which I cannot find anywhere and want to get armed here 1st before contacting a engineer.

Can the hole be closed up into the top floor where the stairs has led into. the top floor is concrete and is a hole about 2 x 3 meter which is on the floor.

Is this even possible to close up?

I find that opinions is better to get before speaking to a structural engineer to be somewhat armed and "seems" somewhat knowledgeable.

    Thanks all in advanced

Depending on the layout of the top floor the building regs might require it to have two entrance/exits to allow safe evacuation in the event of a fire. Only a building engineer can reliably advise you on this.
